Since opening in 2017, our charity shop, bookshop, and the Book Nook at Morning Glen Mall have raised nearly R7 million to support the animals at the Sandton SPCA. This success is thanks to the generosity of the public and the hard work of our incredible volunteers, who have helped grow these stores into vital contributors to our mission.

With thrifting culture thriving globally, our shops are positioned for continued success, and our animals will be the main beneficiaries The second-hand fashion market, in particular, has seen incredible growth, as more people embrace eco-friendly, affordable, and unique shopping options.

To build on this momentum, we’re launching a new donation drive called Paw It Forward. We invite individuals and groups to host collection events for gently used books, clothing, electronics, and homeware to help stock our stores. These donations make a huge difference, and we’re excited to bring more people on board with this initiative.

Our new slogan – ReLove, ReRead, ReHome – reflects our commitment to sustainability (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and the core mission of the SPCA: rehoming animals in need.

Our charity shop is run by a dedicated team of permanent staff and volunteers, many of whom have been with us since the start and are now part of the SSPCA family. We’re also fortunate to have Tony Lavine, an expert in rare and collectible books, helping us curate an amazing selection for our bookshop.
