A STORY OF LOVE AND TRAGEDY

A Story of Love and Tragedy

Inspector Godfrey attended a call out regarding a 3-year-old Pitbull terrier named “Pinky” after she was involved in a harrowing incident during a home invasion attempt in Bezuidenout Valley. According to her owner, Pinky was once a kind, well-mannered and loyal companion who would often sleep and watch TV with the family indoors.

However, on the night of 21st May 2025, Pinky’s life took a drastic turn. When home invaders attempted to burglarize her home, she bravely defended her family, attacking one of the burglars and refusing to let go until he jumped over the palisade fencing. Unfortunately, Pinky’s grip on the burglar caused her lower jaw to impact against the metal fencing which resulted in a ruptured jawline.

Due to the severity of her injury and the owner’s inability to afford veterinary treatment the humane option was euthanasia. Pinky’s tragic fate serves as a testament to her loyalty and love towards her owner.

The Heartbreaking Reality of Animal Neglect

The Heartbreaking Reality of Animal Neglect

On 13 May 2025, during the Sandton SPCA’s proactive routine checks in Alexandra, Inspector Warren and Field Officer John encountered a heartbreaking situation. While diligently assessing the welfare of animals in the area, they came across two goats in severe distress. One of the goats was suffering from a suspected broken leg and a severe eye infection. The other goat’s condition was in an even more critical state— its legs were broken, making it unable to stand, and its body had infected wounds all over.

Despite their best efforts to find a way to ease the suffering of these animals, the severity of their injuries left them with no humane alternative. Faced with this difficult reality, the inspectors made the tough but necessary decision to humanely euthanize both goats to prevent any further suffering.

Our inspectors and field officers dedicate their time and energy to protecting and advocating for animal welfare, often dealing with difficult and emotional circumstances like these. Their commitment to safeguarding vulnerable animals is unwavering, but they need your support to continue making a difference.

If you would like to contribute to their efforts and help fund more proactive welfare checks, medical treatments and rescue operations, please consider making a donation today. Every contribution helps ensure that animals receive the care, attention, and dignity they deserve.
